Updating Your Browser

Updating Your Browser

Keeping your browser up to date is important not only are updates put out to improve the software's speed and responsiveness but they are commonly used to fix exploits to help protect you from phishing attacks, viruses, trojans, spyware, adware, and other sorts of malware. Some published updates also help keep your computer safe and secure, protecting you from identify theft.  Please keep in mind this does not update any extensions used on browsers; those are done separately by those developers.  Never install a extension you do not trust the author or source of.  Below are step by step instructions on how to update the 3 most common browsers found on windows computers.

Updating Microsoft Edge

Click on the 3 dots in the top right corner of the screen. At the bottom of the menu there should be an option that says Help and Feedback , if you put your mouse cursor over Help and Feedback you will get a context menu, click on the About Microsoft Edge option.

On the next screen, your Edge browser will begin to look if an update is available. If an update is available, it’ll be installed automatically.

When the download is complete, click Restart to update edge. Restarting the browser will open any tabs and windows that were open previously.
