Adding Email Accounts
- With Windows Live Mail open, click on the Accounts tab at the top left and then click on Email with the green + on it.
- Here we will enter the following information and then press Next.
- Email Address: Full email address
- Password: Email password
- Remember This Password: If checked, you will not be asked to enter your password every time you try to send or receive mail
- Display Name: The name others will see when sending out emails
- Manually Configure Server Settings: Place a check mark here
- Here we will put in our Incoming Server Information and the Outgoing Server Information. Then press Next.
- Incoming Server Information (Left Side)
- Server Type: IMAP
- Server Address: imap.ruraltel.net (or imap.gbta.net, etc. depending on your email address)
- Port: 143
- Requires A Secure Connection (SSL): Leave unchecked
- Authenticate Using: Clear text
- Logon or User Name: Full email address
- Outgoing Server Information (Right Side)
- Server Address: smtp.ruraltel.net (or smtp.gbta.net, etc. depending on your email address)
- Requires A Secure Connection (SSL): Leave unchecked
- Requires Authentication: Place a check mark here
- Your account has now been added. Press Finish.
Viewing Account Settings
- With Windows Live Mail open, click on the Accounts tab at the top left and then click on Properties.
- You should now be viewing the properties of the selected email account. You can view the different settings by going through the tabs along the top - General, Servers, Security, Advanced, IMAP
Removing Email Accounts
- With Windows Live Mail open, click on the Blue File button at the top left.
- From here, go to Options and then Email Accounts...
- Select the account you would like to remove and then press Remove on the right.
- You will get a disclaimer verifying that you would like to remove the account. If so, press OK.
- Your account is now removed.
